Porcupine Revisits

Back in April of 2007, I showed you some pictures of a porcupine and the damage they caused to trees in the valley. Well now they are making it personal.

This pine tree across the road from the house has been debarked to the point of girdling and the resulting inevitable death.


My expert wildlife tracking skills were employed in following this rather obvious trail leading to and from the dying tree to the porcupines den tree a short distance away.

This fellow displayed his business end to me last summer not too far away. I guess I am going to have to go visit him someday.

So... it just picks one tree and works on it until all the bark is gone?

I am not sure they have a big enough brain to plan it out. Just what they feel like.
