Snow Work and Play

If you are an avid reader of posted comments like me, you probably saw that the photos I posted on the previous post were misleading. I was skeptical at the time and Loren found that they were actually from Alaska. Thanks for your work Loren.

You also saw some still photos of snow blowing. Here's a video of the same, but some play added on too.

Most Snow

By now, the whole world has heard about the 11', 4" of snow that fell in Redfield, a small town in Oswego County, NY. A friend sent me these pictures claiming they were from Route 11 in Oswego, NY, several weekends ago. While I remain skeptical, they are impressive.

When I first worked in Watertown, I lived about 10 miles from Redfield, on a seasonal road, in a cabin with no electricity. I thought it was beautiful. It was December. The Tug Hill Plateau is infamous for it's winters and during a moment of sanity, we moved in to town, Adams, where history was born. History, which came in the famous names and impressive character of the reknown Adam R. Morehouse, Andrew P. Morehouse, Andrew R. Sienkiewicz, Charles G. Finney, the great evangelist and "America's foremost revivalist', and J. Sterling Morton, not the salt guy, the founder of Arbor Day.

More Snow

Biscuit Hollow Snow

On Monday, we went over to Biscuit Hollow for a little work, and a little play.

Animal Den

Hidden in the creek bank behind an autumn olive bush, an active animal den. These tracks were easily identified by the droppings evident in the picture: Eastern Cottontail.

A Beginning

I have been thinking about starting a blog for awhile. I like to take pictures, share thoughts, keep in touch with family and friends. Bonnie, Loren, and Ellen do such a great job of keeping us up to date, maybe I too can learn this new technology. I don't know where this will lead, but let's make tracks.
