Trail Camera 2011

A trail camera is simply a motion activated camera you hang someplace in the wild where you think you might have some wildlife activity. Then you check back once in a while, replace batteries, and enjoy the pictures.

Well, it's good if you can learn something in the process. Something that will improve your hunting success. But mostly it is just for fun and to see what animals are out there when you aren't.







This is a weird one. I call it our zombie deer. The deer does look skinny. Perhaps it is just the angle, shadows, or lens distortion. I don't know.

Fall Foliage 2011

The fall foliage season in Biscuit Hollow was short, but spectacular. It was a slow buildup and with a beautiful day on October 7, I decided to start taking some pictures. Warm, sunny, and cloudless skies were the order for the next four days and you can see the colors advanced rapidly. I took the last pictures on October 10. Then we had rain and high winds and now they are all gone. Here are the pictures to remember this year's beautiful display.

The bucolic bliss of Biscuit Hollow was broken last week by several major news events. This edition of the Biscuit Hollow Beat is the only news outlet that as of this print date has reported on the following incidents.

Accident: Our lead story involves native son, Mike Morehouse, who was involved in a horrific accident in Lawrence Township as he traveled home from work on Wednesday, September 28. Traveling on PA Rte 287/328, an oncoming pickup truck passed two vehicles, reportedly in a no passing zone, lost control on the rain slicked road surface and struck Mike’s vehicle nearly head-on in a violent collision. Mike’s truck was then struck from behind by a 3^rd pickup truck. Mike was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Lawrenceville Fire Department and Ambulance crews. Hospitalized for a broken left leg and multiple bruises, Mike was released Saturday and will continue his recuperation at his Elkland residence. Crime: As reported in The Leader, Corning, NY, an Addison man was arrested after leading police on a high speed chase and shooting at them with a shotgun. Our story picks up at the point that the police abandoned chase after being fired upon. According to word on the street and in part confirmed by police presence, numerous police cars converged on the Western termini of the Morehouse Rd at the intersection of the Grubb Rd in Biscuit Hollow, establishing a road block. It is reported that the license plates on the truck used by the shooter were traced back to an address on the Grubb Rd. While searching the address, a meth lab was uncovered in one of the several camping trailers.

Wildlife: Later in the week, this coyote was a victim of a road rage incident on the Grubb Rd.

Real Estate: Surveyors were recently, well, surveying, the William Resue property in Biscuit Hollow. The 100 acre parcel, also known as the sugar bush or upper ravine, has been sold to an unknown buyer.

Social Activity: Beverly Sawyer Williamee, the last person to be born in Biscuit Hollow, returned from Pittsburg this weekend for a visit. She spent time with friends and family, including several meals with Phil and Jann Morehouse. Sunday brunch was also attended by her father, Skip Sawyer, who returned from Pittsburg with her and will remain at his residence for the next month or so.
