Biscuit Hollow Winter Classic

The ice has been made ready for the Biscuit Hollow Pond Hockey Winter Classic.

The tournament will consist of three person teams. Because I am the owner, I get to pick my team first and I pick hockey greats Andrew and Jeffrey Sienkiewicz. And since I played goalie for the hockey team while at Cornell, I think we will have a pretty good chance to win this tournament.

Let me tell you about Cornell hockey. A storied past of excellence steeped with student and fan traditions, the Cornell hockey program is one of the most exciting in the ECAC. Nothing beats watching a game from the student section of Lynah Rink. While I was there from 1974 through 1978, most of our season offensive records were set and our won/loss percentage was .686. Three of our players went on to the NFL during that time. Defensively, we struggled. So there were no titles. Just par excellence.

Perhaps I should clarify one point. I did not play on the Cornell men's collegiate hockey team. The hockey team I was the goalie for was for my fraternity, Alpha Zeta, in the intramural broom stick hockey league. I was the goalie because at that point in my life, I couldn't skate.

Shocking Photograph

Someone is doing something in this field and I think it is shocking.
Yes, simply shocking.

This is a field of corn near Woodhull, NY. The field, planted by an Amish farmer, was being cut this last fall and the stalks gathered into shocks for storage. It will later be taken to the farmstead as feed for livestock.
